RRB Syllabus for Group C NTPC

There are around nine posts which fall under Group C NTPC. The recruitment for Group C NTPC posts follows a certain pattern for each post. The first stage of the process will be 2 Stage CBT (Computer Based Test) – Tier I and Tier II of objective type questions with multiple choices under four sections i.e. (i) General Awareness, (ii) Arithmetic, (iii) General Intelligence and (iv) Reasoning. RRB Syllabus – Aptitude Test for NTPC

Candidates who applied for Assistant Station Master and Traffic Assistant and cleared Tier I and II will be called in for taking up Aptitude Test. There will be five tests under Aptitude Test and candidates should clear each test to be qualified. Aptitude Test is of qualifying nature and candidates not clearing this will not be shortlisted for next stage of recruitment process. Check below the detailed pattern for Aptitude test.

RRB NTPC – Typing Skill Test

Typing Skill Test is conducted for candidates who applied under Category No. 5, 6, and 9 i.e. Junior Account Assistant-cum Typist, Senior Clerk-cum Typist and Sr. Time Keeper and have cleared the Tier I and II of Written Test (CBT). Typing Test is of qualifying nature and only those who clear Typing Skill Test will be further considered in the final merit list.
The test can be taken in English or Hindi. Candidates are to bring their own typewriting machine. Detailed pattern on Typewriting test is given in RRB Exam Pattern.


RRB Exam Pattern – Loco Pilot

Assistant Loco Pilot post in Indian Railways is a post which requires high efficiency, perceptive skills, and good medical condition of the candidates. The selection/recruitment for this post is done separately and is done in three stages

  1. Written Test
  2. Viva-voce/Skill test, Document Verification
  • Medical Fitness Test

RB Syllabus – Loco Pilot

English: Articles, Prepositions, Voices, Tenses, Synonyms, Antonyms, etc., from the Basic Grammar
Reasoning: Encoding, Decoding, Blood Ties, Arrangements, Calendar and Topics – Dates, Weeks, Classification, Analogy, Verbal and Non-Verbal Question
Arithmetic: Time and Distance Factors, Ratios, Averages, Interest, Pictogram-Based Problems, etc.
The syllabus of RRB ALP exam General Science and Technical Ability section consist of Basics of various subjects including Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Electronics and Communications.

RRB – Syllabus for Engineering Posts

RRB Exam Pattern – Group D

The selection of RRB Group D posts are done to fill the arising vacancies in Group D posts every year. There are around seven posts which fall under Group D and the selection is done in four stages i.e. (i) Written Test, (ii) Physical Efficiency Test, (iii) Document and Candidate verification, and (iv) Medical Test. RRB Syllabus – Constables

The recruitment for the post of RPF Constables is done individually by each Railway Recruitment Board every year. There will be three stages of recruitment and Written test will be one of them. There will be three subjects for Constable Exam i.e. General Awareness, General English, and Essay Writing.

Railways Exam Group C and D – Overview

The recruitment for Group C and D is done via RRB under 21 Railway Recruitment Boards under the supervision of Railway Recruitment Control Board. The posts are divided into technical cadre and non-technical cadre. Recruitment is done on All India basis and the competition is not restricted to one particular zone and only the eligibility of the candidate is necessary for taking up the Exam under any zone. Since recruitment in done on larger scale, it is done under 21 RRBs.

  • Posts for which recruitment is done Group C are RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Category), RRB Technical Cadre and RPF Sub-Inspectors/Constables.
  • The recruitment of Trackman, Porter, Helper-II (Mech), Helper-II (S&T), Gr.D Engg., Helper-II (Elect), Gr. D (Store) are done through Group D recruitment.

Thus the focus of Railway Recruitment Board will be solely on Group C and D through Competitive Exams followed by Interview process and other necessary recruitment processes
